The Harris County Healthy Food Financing Initiative will increase the availability of fresh and nutritious food in underserved communities by funding innovative solutions through community partners, the county announced Wednesday in a press release. Here is how the organizations plan to allocate the grant:HOPE Clinic : Teach restauranteurs to prepare healthy food for their menus. HOUSTON โ€“ I spent Monday morning volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. Even though I knew what the food bank does, I was shocked at the scale of the operation. The people at the Houston Food Bank, volunteers and employees alike, put out 1800 food boxes for children each day. The Houston Food Bank needs assistance -- both funding and time -- in order to succeed. I want to thank the Houston Food Bank for making my experience so enriching.
