HOUSTON – There is more money in Texas politics than ever before. No doubt in the case of Texas House races, where tens of millions have been raised. On Monday, the third-party group Texas House Democratic Campaign Committee announced over $10 million raised thus far in 2020. “There is no contest that is more significant than control of the Texas House in the entire country,” said Mark Jones, a professor of political science at Rice University. Once the smoke clears post-Election Day officials are expecting over $40 million to be raised and spent on Texas House races.

The House Democratic Campaign Committee scoffed at the Abbott campaign offensive. “Frankly, given the now open warfare among Texas Republicans, Abbott's move seems more about the next GOP primary than this election." Abbott’s political stature has taken a hit as he has navigated the coronavirus pandemic, with his approval ratings sagging over the summer.

HOUSTON – Mayor Sylvester Turner is announcing a new anti-littering campaign targeting PPE and other trash, according to a press release from the city. The campaign will focus on the proper way to discard masks, gloves, sanitizer wipes and other trash during the COVID-19 pandemic. Turner will be joined Wednesday by Vice Mayor Pro-Tem Martha Castex-Tatum, Keep Houston Beautiful, representatives from COH Houston Trash, Parks, Neighborhoods, Houston First and community members.
