A man who escaped custody from the Waller County Sheriff’s Office and spent weeks on the run before he was found with a self-inflicted gunshot inside a burning home has succumbed to his injuries.

After more than three weeks on the run, a man who escaped custody while undergoing testing at a hospital in Bellville has been recaptured by authorities with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

One week after a man escaped from law enforcement custody while at a Bellville hospital, the Waller County Sheriff’s Office released an update on the search.
