Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Mike Clevinger delivers in the first inning in a baseball game against the Cincinnati Reds, Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020, in Cleveland. Clevinger and Plesac drove to Detroit separately with their baseball equipment on Thursday for an open forum meeting at the team's hotel before the Indians opened a series with the Tigers. So before the opener, the Indians activated Clevinger and Plesac from the restricted list and optioned them to Lake County. While the Indians got a car service to take Plesac back to Cleveland, Clevinger flew home with the team after not telling the Indians he had been out with his teammate. Although both players have twice tested negative for COVID-19 this week, the Indians aren't ready to have them back.

Indians' Clevinger violates protocols, will be quarantined

Read full article: Indians' Clevinger violates protocols, will be quarantined

CLEVELAND Indians starter Mike Clevinger will be quarantined and undergo testing after violating COVID-19 protocols during the team's weekend trip to Chicago, the second Cleveland pitcher in two days to be disciplined for breaking team rules. The team said Monday that Clevinger will not make his scheduled start Tuesday at home against the Cubs. The Indians had Plesac drive home so he wouldn't be around his teammates in case he had contracted the coronavirus. It's not known if Clevinger and Plesac will face additional penalties from the Indians. Adam Plutko will start in place of Clevinger, a hard-throwing right-hander who is 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA.

Big stick: Lindor focused on season, not future in Cleveland

Read full article: Big stick: Lindor focused on season, not future in Cleveland

CLEVELAND Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor is religiously following baseball's COVID-19 protocols social distancing, masks, temperature checks, you name it. The All-Star's future with the Indians remains a touchy topic, whether the team plays 60 games this season or not again until 2021. Now, he's facing the prospect of playing his final season in Cleveland without fans cheering him on. I havent really thought about whats going to happen after this year or the middle of this year or next season to be honest, he said. I actually had some really, really, really thoughtful texts and emails, too. Lindor also is in favor of a name change.
