Houston Life Co-Host

Three-time Emmy® winner Derrick Shore is the co-host of Houston Life, the LIVE talk/magazine show airing weekdays at 1 p.m. on KPRC 2, Houston’s NBC affiliate. He was named “Television Personality of the Year” by the Houston Media Alliance and “Favorite Male TV Personality” in OutSmart Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards.  

Early in his career, Derrick went on assignment to the bottom of the North Atlantic Ocean to see the wreckage of the Titanic. He also became the youngest TV reporter to fly in an F-16 fighter jet with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds. After the terrorist attacks of September 11, he reported for the WB television special The Day it All Changed. Viewers might also know him from Channel One News, Current TV, the teen romantic comedy Drive Me Crazy and the CBS Television drama Promised Land. He has also made special cameo appearances in several NBC projects including Hairspray LIVE and on the popular singing competition series The Voice.

From skid row to the red carpet at the Oscars® to the White House to international destinations in Asia, Africa, Europe, South America and Australia to cover breaking news and features, Derrick’s bucket list is well underway. He is a champion for social justice and is committed to giving a voice to underserved individuals and communities, volunteering his time to help support dozens of non-profit organizations in Houston and beyond.  

A native of Salt Lake City, Derrick graduated from UCLA at the top of his class with a bachelor’s degree in Cultural Studies. Before joining KPRC, Derrick reported for a primetime news magazine program at KCET in Los Angeles.
