Jaewon Jung is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who’s thrilled to call Houston home. She joined KPRC 2 as a reporter in February 2025.
Before making the move to Texas, Jaewon was the weekend anchor and senior reporter at the ABC affiliate in Las Vegas. During her time there, she gained national recognition for her coverage of the Robert Telles trial, a high-profile case involving an elected official convicted of murdering Las Vegas reporter Jeff German. Her investigative reporting on a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department sergeant’s questionable arrest tactics and officers’ use of a disappearing messages app also sparked widespread discussion, with her stories racking up hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube.
She was also part of the team that won a Pacific Southwest Emmy Award for their breaking news coverage of the UNLV shooting, when a gunman opened fire on campus, killing three professors.
While crime and justice are her specialties, Jaewon has covered a wide range of stories, from severe weather—including Oregon’s devastating wildfires—to the 2024 election in a battleground state of Nevada and Las Vegas' ongoing growth and development.
Fluent in Korean, Jaewon has been an active emcee for events hosted by the nonprofit Asian Community Development Council in Las Vegas. She’s looking forward to getting involved with Houston’s Asian American community and hopes to be a source of representation. She was also a speaker at the 2023 Society of Professional Journalists convention and is a proud member of the Investigative Reporters & Editors organization.
When she’s not chasing a big story, you can find Jaewon spending time with her dog, Latte, or brushing up on her childhood sport—figure skating—at the local ice rink. She’s also excited to dive into Houston’s food scene and is always open to recommendations for the best spots in town!
