Don’t have time or money for Houston student’s school vaccines?

Houston hosts immunization events ahead of 2025-2026 school year.

Ah, the back-to-school scramble! While you’re juggling shopping trips to get school supplies, that must-have backpack, and the perfect first-day outfit, there’s one important item you can’t find in any store aisle: immunizations.

There are multiple events going on in the Houston area to take your child to get the shots they need. And the best part? It’s all no-to-low cost.

To find the closest location near you, click here to visit Harris County Commissioner of Precinct 4, Leslie Briones’s website. Each event is listed with its location, date, and specific details to help you plan your visit. Some events also include safety workshops or offer resources to help families prepare for the new school year.

In partnership with Harris County Public Health, they are hosting more than 12 events across six locations in Precinct 4. But keep in mind, space is limited. So, it’s encouraged to sign up sooner than later. Click on any of the following dates to learn more about the event:

August 5: Free Immunizations and Stroke Prevention workshop

August 6: Bike Safety and Immunizations at Peckham Park

August 11: Immunization Services at Burnett Bayland Community Center

August 12: Immunizations Services at Tracy Gee Community Center

August 13: Immunization Services at Bayland Community Center.

August 15: Be Cool, Stay Healthy: School Immunizations at Freed Community Center

August 19: Free School Immunizations at Radack Community Center

August 25: Immunization Services at Burnett Bayland Community Center

August 26: Free Children’s Immunizations at Radack Community Center

August 27: Immunization Services at Bayland Community Center

September 10: Immunization Services at Bayland Community Center

September 23: Free Children’s Immunizations at Radack Community Center

September 24: Immunization Services at Bayland Community Center

October 28: Free Children’s Immunizations at Radack Community Center

November 25: Free Children’s Immunizations at Radack Community Center

If you don’t live in Houston, don’t worry. I got you covered with a list of surrounding counties and their back-to-school plans for the community. If you can’t find your county, it’s most likely because they are not hosting anymore back-to-school events for the 2025-2026 academic year:

Montgomery County

The Montgomery County Public Health Department (MCPHD) is offering no-to-low-cost immunizations to residents of all ages, whether they are uninsured or underinsured. You just have to call the MCPHD Clinic at 936-523-5020 to see of if you’re eligible.

Fort Bend County

If you take a look at Fort Bend County’s Calendar, you’ll find all of their back-to-school immunization events. Click here to access the calendar. Events are happening from August 2nd to September 18th. Details for each event is in the photo below.

Galveston County

The Galveston County Health District (GCHD) is offering back-to-school vaccines at their clinic located at 9850 Emmett F. Lowry from 8am to 4pm. Make sure to show up early because its first-come-first-served until supplies runs out.

If you can’t make it to any of these events, GCHD offers immunization services for children and adults through various state-funded programs like Texas Vaccines for Children (Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) and Adult Safety Net Vaccines (ASN). Brazoria County

The Brazoria County Health Department (BCHD) offers free immunizations to school-aged children who are uninsured. If this is you, call 979-864-1484 to schedule an appointment. Click here to go to BCHD’s main website.

Grimes County

Grimes County is hosting three back-to-school events during the first week of August. Click here to view Grimes County’s Community Calendar to decide which back-to-school event to attend.
