Train collides with 18-wheeler in Sugar Land; multiple intersections closed

SUGAR LAND, Texas – Police in Sugar Land say multiple intersections are closed after a train collided with a 18-wheeler Friday.

The Sugar Land Police Department says it happened on Highway 90 at Easton Avenue.

Fort Bend County HazMat responded and contained a diesel spill which occurred as a result of the collision. No major injuries have been reported, but traffic will be affected for the next several hours.

Here are the intersections that police say are currently closed:

• Easton Avenue / US 90
• SH 6 / US 90 — lower lanes closed; upper lanes remain open and accessible
• Stadium Drive / US 90
• University Boulevard / US 90
• Main Street / US 90

Traffic is expected to be disrupted for the Savannah Banana’s game this evening at Constellation Field. Attendees are advised to take the main lanes of SH 6 over US-90, or access Burney Rd to Stadium Dr via West Airport Blvd.
