Ybanez was taken into custody a little before 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon in the parking lot of a convenience store on West League City Parkway.

Detectives with the department’s Special Investigations Unit began working with USPS OIG agents about a week ago after receiving information about suspected mail theft involving Ybanez.

Ybanez was charged with mail theft involving 10 to 30 items, which is a state jail felony.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police said additional information will be released as it becomes available.
