Stay connected with ParentSquare, Connect
Two key tools every HISD parent should have are ParentSquare and Connect. Both platforms give parents access to school updates, grades, attendance records and direct communication with their child’s campus.
Sign up for bus services before school starts
Parents who need bus services for their children should register as soon as possible. Families can visit the district’s website and click on “Transportation Request” to get started — and should complete the process before the first day of school.
School meal applications now open
HISD has opened its school meal applications for the upcoming school year. Parents are encouraged to apply early to ensure their child’s meals are covered when classes begin.
Cellphones still not allowed on campuses
Students are still prohibited from bringing cellphones or any other personal communication devices to school. The district’s policy remains in place for the new school year.
Special education families notified of campus changes
Families with students in special education who were assigned to a different campus this school year have been notified of those changes, according to HISD. The district told KPRC that the reassignments will not modify a student’s individual education plan.
HISD police urge drivers to slow down in school zones
Houston ISD Police are reminding the community to make safety a top priority as the school year gets underway. Officers are asking drivers to reduce their speed in school zones.
