3 children safe after carjacking in Aldine, suspect detained

The circumstances surrounding how the children were recovered have not yet been released

Three children are safe after a carjacking Monday morning in the Aldine area, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call in the 700 block of Aldine Mail Route Road, where investigators learned a woman had gone into a store and left her three children, ages 1, 3 and 10, inside her vehicle.

Authorities said a man allegedly got into the vehicle and drove away with the children still inside.

Investigators said the suspect later let the 10-year-old out of the vehicle, while the 1-year-old and 3-year-old remained inside.

A short time later, officers with the Humble Police Department located and stopped the stolen vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody, and the two younger children were safely recovered.

All three children are safe. Authorities have not reported any injuries.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office credited deputies and Humble police officers for their quick response. Officials said additional information about the suspect is expected to be released later today.
