Large fire reported at house in Fifth Ward

HFD says fire started in bedroom

Multiple firetrucks with Houston Fire Department responded to a large fire at a home in the Fifth Ward area.

The fire was reported by a concerned caller at around 11:10 a.m. Monday morning in the 2900 block of Jewel Street at Brackenridge Street.

The caller, who said her name was Brittany, reported seeing HFD firetrucks from Ladders 12, 19, and 39. Brittany also shared images and videos from the scene.

HFD would later confirm the fire and response.

Brittany also reported seeing glass on the ground near the home and large flames coming from the front door as first responders approached.

First responders were seen rolling out a stretcher in the area, but HFD officials later told KPRC 2 that nobody was injured in the fire.

Firefighters were captured using hoses to try and contain the flames. The blaze was soon under control.

The cause of the fire remains unclear at this time, but HFD officials said it started in a bedroom in the house.
