GALVESTON, Texas – SEMAR, the Secretariat of the Navy in Mexico, has released the names of five people who are confirmed dead after a Mexican Navy aircraft carrying a burn patient crashed in Galveston Bay on Monday.

The aircraft took off in Mexico and was headed to Galveston when it crashed into the bay.
Multiple agencies, including the U.S. Coast Guard, Texas DPS, and the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, responded to the incident on Monday afternoon.
KPRC 2 witnessed a large law enforcement and first responder presence near the base of the causeway bridge in Galveston as authorities responded.
Monday evening, the Secretariat of the Navy released the names of the eight people aboard the aircraft, of which five are confirmed dead, one is presumed dead, and two survived.
Members of the Mexican Navy who died:
- Lieutenant A.N. P.A. Víctor Rafael Pérez Hernández.
- Lieutenant S.S.N. Juan Iván Zaragoza Flores.
- Marinero A.N. E. Av. Guadalupe Flores Barranco.
Missing (presumed deceased):
- Lieutenant A.N. P.A. Luis Enrique Castillo Terrones.
(So far his body has not been located; however, given the circumstances of the event, it is assumed to be deceased.)
Passengers who died:
- Federico Efraín Ramírez Cruz (Patient).
- Juan Alfonso Adame González (Doctor).
Survivors:
- Julia Aracelis Cruz Vera (Companion).
- Miriam de Jesús Rosas Mancilla (Nurse).
The King Air ANX 1209 aircraft, which belonged to the Mexican Navy, was conducting a medical support mission as part of “Plan Marina” in coordination with the Michou and Mau Foundation.
“The aircraft was carrying out a humanitarian mission focused on specialized medical transport, with eight people on board: four naval crew members and four civilians,” the Mexican Navy said.
