Hollywood and fans around the world are mourning the deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, after authorities said the couple was found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home and their youngest son was arrested in connection with the killings.
Los Angeles police confirmed Monday that Nick Reiner, 32, was taken into custody as a suspect in the case.

Chief Jim McDonnell, Los Angeles Police Department said, “They work throughout the night on this case, and we’re able to take into custody Nick Reiner, a suspect in this case.”
Authorities said Nick Reiner was arrested Sunday night, less than six hours after the couple was discovered inside the family’s home. A source close to the matter said Nick Reiner had been living with his parents off and on.
That source said the three attended a party hosted by Conan O’Brien on Saturday night. Guests at the party told NBC News that Nick Reiner was disruptive and made people feel uncomfortable. The source said Rob and Michele Reiner were embarrassed by his behavior and expressed worries about his health.
A spokesperson for the Reiner family said in a statement, “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.”
Nick Reiner has spoken publicly about struggles with addiction and homelessness. He co-wrote the screenplay for Being Charlie, a film loosely based on his life that was directed by his father.

Rob Reiner built a decades-long career first as an actor and then as a director behind a string of well-known films, while also becoming a prominent public voice in politics and civic life.
Police said detectives plan to present evidence to prosecutors Tuesday, with formal charges anticipated Wednesday. Nick Reiner is being held without bail.
