Investigators with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 said deputies have recovered more $20,000 worth of stolen truck tailgates after authorities linked a notorious tailgate thief to more than 20 thefts across Harris County.
According to Constable Mark Herman’s Office, a sergeant began looking into a string of tailgate thefts on Dec. 8.

After reviewing evidence from multiple scenes, investigators soon identified a pattern: an older-model Chevrolet Malibu seen repeatedly at crime scenes.

Authorities soon linked the suspected Malibu to a man from the Houston area: Samuel Worthy, 19.
Worthy is already on felony probation for previous tailgate thefts, Precinct 4 said.
Deputies went to Worthy’s reported residence in Tomball, where they executed a search and recovered eight stolen truck tailgates valued at roughly $20,000.
Several have already been returned to their owners.
Worthy is currently wanted by law enforcement for theft aggregate.
