The city’s water billing department has responded, saying they’ve corrected some water bills but have not provided a clear explanation for what’s causing the spike.

Child mauled after neighbor’s dog barges through family’s front door in NE Harris County

A 3-year-old boy is left recovering after being attacked by a neighbor’s dog in northeast Harris County. The boy has since suffered fractured facial bones, lost two front teeth, and sustained injuries to his eye and eyelids in the attack that occurred on Nov. 18, just before Thanksgiving.

Houston woman credits Lone Star Legal Aid with preventing eviction as nonprofit faces major federal funding cuts

The federal government is threatening to make cuts to an essential non-profit that helps those in need in civil matters. Lone Star Legal Aid is facing the possibility of losing nearly half of its federal funding. The White House proposed eliminating LSC funding. The House recommends a 46% cut, while the Senate supports a small increase. For now, a temporary funding measure runs through the end of January, leaving Lone Star Legal Aid’s 2026 funding uncertain.
