HOUSTON – A sweeping multi-agency operation in Harris County has resulted in the arrest of dozens of violent offenders and sexual predators. Officials announced the results of the warrants round up targeting violent offenders during a news conference on Tuesday.
The effort involved the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, FBI Houston, DEA Houston, U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Task Force, and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced the operation’s results, highlighting that 80 arrests were made and 183 warrants cleared. Of those warrants, 96 were for felony charges and 53 involved crimes against children.
Among those arrested is Joshua Gomez, an unlicensed chiropractor accused of sexually assaulting multiple patients during unlicensed procedures. Authorities say Gomez is now charged in three separate sexual assault cases, with the possibility of more victims coming forward.
Detective Amy Seaton of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office explained that Gomez’s pattern of predatory behavior escalated over time, leading to his arrest last week by the Violent Person Warrant Task Force.
Gomez’s most recent charge involves a woman he allegedly sexually assaulted in 2019 during an unlicensed procedure.
“The case came from an outcry that was made after the last arrest. He was technically under an emergent suspension at the time of this offense and he surrendered his license later that month to the state to where he was no longer a chiropractor,” said Seaton.
Investigators say Gomez misled women into believing he was a licensed chiropractor. One 2023 incident involved a sexual assault during a postpartum procedure at his brother’s chiropractic clinic in Katy. His brother told investigators Gomez only responsible for
managerial tasks.
Thirteen women have come forward so far with allegations against Gomez, but authorities believe there may be more victims.
Detective Seaton encouraged anyone with information to come forward, noting that even cases from years ago can still have evidence to support charges.
Joshua Gomez has since made a $100,000 bond and is no longer in jail. Those with any information about Gomez are asked to Call HCSO at (713) 755-6044.
Other arrests mentioned during the warrant round up include the arrest of Roberto Arnaldo Vasquez III. According to DPS, he is accused of continuously sexually assaulting a girl since she was 9 years old.
The US Marshal’s Gulf Coast Task Force announced the arrest of Wilfred Sequerios, a former Klein ISD and Houston ISD elementary school teacher and soccer coach. He is accused of sexually and physically assaulting children ages 7 to 10 between 2014 and 2019—allegations that led to multiple arrests over the years, his flight to Peru after new charges in 2023, and ultimately his capture and extradition back to Houston by U.S. Marshals with assistance from Peruvian authorities.
