Harris County Precinct 4 says recovery efforts remain ongoing after Monday’s severe weather event

After a tornado damaged homes in neighborhoods across Houston’s northside yesterday, officials are working to help pick up the pieces and provide assistance to communities that are in need.

Harris County Precinct 4 Captain Jose Garzo provided the latest information in a press conference.

Here’s what we learned

Around 100 homes were destroyed or damaged in the Houston area from the tornado. No injuries or fatalities have been reported at this time.

How officials are responding

Officials are coordinating with local emergency services to provide relief. Priorities include restoring power, clearing debris, and ensuring roads are safe to drive on.

In the aftermath of the tornado, more than 14,000 customers lost power. Around 420 customers remain impacted, per CenterPoint Energy’s outage tracker.

Food, water, and drinks are being distributed to residents in need.

Harris County Commissioner Precinct 3 crews are assisting with cleanup. Special operations units, including the motorcycle division, are escorting utility crews to affected areas.

About 25 officers, along with DPS and Klein ISD, are patrolling to prevent crime in homes that could be vulnerable or compromised as a result of the damage.
