2 confirmed tornadoes touched down Monday in Klein and Cypress

The first tornado, which has been rated an EF-1, touched down at 1:23 p.m. and was on the ground for 2.61 miles before lifting at 1:28 p.m.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – The National Weather Service has given preliminary ratings for two confirmed tornadoes that impacted Harris County Monday.

The first tornado, which has been rated an EF-1, touched down at 1:23 p.m. and was on the ground for 2.61 miles before lifting at 1:28 p.m. This tornado impacted the Riata Ranch subdivision in Cypress and had estimated peak winds of 105 mph. The max winds have been revised since the information was first released, so that part of the graphic below has now changed.

The second tornado, which impacted areas in Klein, touched down at 1:41 p.m. It remained on the ground for 3.83 miles before lifting at 1:48 p.m. This tornado has been rated an EF-2. On Monday, the preliminary information had the peak winds of 115 mph. This has been revised up to 125 mph.

The ratings and information are preliminary and more information will be forthcoming.

No injuries have been reported from either tornado.
