The partnership will bring a slate of exclusive games, postseason coverage, and other baseball programming to NBC Sports.
Under the agreement:
- Sunday Night Baseball will feature 25 primetime games annually across NBC, NBCSN, and Peacock, showcasing MLB’s top teams and stars.
- MLB Sunday Leadoff will return with 18 late-morning games, mostly exclusive to Peacock/NBCSN, followed by a Sunday afternoon whip-around show streaming live on Peacock.
- On Sunday, July 5, 2026, all 15 MLB games that day will be presented exclusively on Peacock and NBC, culminating with Sunday Night Baseball.
- Postseason Coverage: NBC, NBCSN, and Peacock will exclusively broadcast the entire Wild Card round (8–12 games each season).
- Peacock will stream one out-of-market game daily, plus highlights, short-form content, and documentaries.
- Telemundo Deportes and Universo will carry all NBCUniversal-produced games in Spanish.
The season will kick off on Thursday, March 26, 2026, with the reigning back-to-back World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers raising their newest banner before hosting the Arizona Diamondbacks in the only primetime MLB game on Opening Day.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred called NBC’s approach to high-quality production and athlete storytelling “an exciting opportunity to continue the sport’s growth.”
The deal also establishes new MLB traditions with exclusive Opening Day and Labor Day primetime games, and starting in 2027, Peacock and NBC will present the final regular-season “Game 2,430,” a high-stakes matchup to close out the season.
Rick Cordella, President of NBC Sports, said the partnership “honors the past and creates new traditions” while providing year-round Sunday night sports programming alongside Sunday Night Football and Sunday Night Basketball—a first for any broadcast network.
NBC Sports has a long history with professional baseball, dating back to the first-ever MLB broadcast in 1939. Over the years, the network has aired 39 World Series and more than 30 MLB All-Star Games, along with numerous iconic regular season and postseason moments throughout the history of baseball.
With this deal, NBC and Peacock aim to build a year-round destination for premier Sunday night sports, adding Major League Baseball to its coverage alongside the NFL and NBA.
