HOUSTON – Texas Governor Greg Abbott has set the date for the runoff election for Texas 18th Congressional District.

The runoff election is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026.

The seat has been vacant since the passing of U.S. Rep. Sylvester Turner.

During the Nov. 4 elections, Christian Menefee and Amanda Edwards emerged as the top two candidates amid the crowded field of 16, but since neither candidate received 50% of the vote, it advanced to a runoff election.

Menefee led with 29% to the vote, with Amanda Edwards emerging with 26% of the vote following Nov. 4.

The winner of the runoff will serve for the remainder of Turner’s term,

Early voting will begin on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
