Man shoots girlfriend before turning gun on himself in west Harris County, sheriff says

KATY, Texas – A woman was airlifted to a hospital Wednesday morning after officials said she was shot by her boyfriend in west Harris County moments before he turned the gun on himself.

Details remain limited due to the active investigation, but Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the man and woman were parked next to each other in the 2200 block of South Mason Road, but the circumstances remain under investigation.

The man then drove to a gas station near Katy Freeway and Eldridge Parkway, where Sheriff Gonzalez said he was seen ingesting narcotics before shooting himself.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was taken by LifeFlight to a nearby hospital. Neither of them has been identified.

Sheriff Gonzalez noted there is no threat to the public, but an elementary school nearby did temporarily go on lockdown as a precaution.
