HOUSTON – Authorities in Louisiana say the man killed after being hit by a vehicle in east Harris County last week was wanted in connection with shooting a Lyft driver to death in Calcasieu Parish.
According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 11 a.m. on October 10 to the 200 block of Trousdale Road in Westlake, Louisiana, where they found a woman dead in a ditch. The victim, identified as Lawanna J. Lewis, 62, of Lake Charles, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head.

Detectives later learned that Lewis had been working as a Lyft driver that day and that her vehicle was missing. A Be On the Lookout (BOLO) alert was issued for the car, which was later spotted that same evening in a parking lot in the Houston area.
When deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office tried talking to two individuals inside the vehicle, they took off. One of them, later identified as 23-year-old Ethan I. Bush of Boyce, Louisiana, was hit by a car while trying to escape and died at the scene.
The second was identified as Tristan A. Bush, 26, of Lafayette, Louisiana, was taken into custody by HCSO deputies. Investigators said evidence located during the joint investigation linked both men to the Louisiana homicide.
Tristan Bush remains in Harris County custody and is awaiting extradition to Calcasieu Parish, where he faces a second-degree murder charge. His bond was set at $2.5 million.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges are possible.
