Man charged with arson after fire at Houston Habitat for Humanity offices

An arrest has been made in connection with a fire that damaged the offices of Houston Habitat for Humanity on August 2.

Court records allege Francisco Javier Gonzalez intentionally set a fire by igniting combustible materials and flammable liquids, targeting the building at 3750 N. McCarty Street. The property houses the offices of Houston Habitat for Humanity.

Houston Habitat for Humanity provided the following statement from CEO Allison Hay regarding the incident:

“We are deeply grateful to the first responders whose swift and professional actions helped contain the fire that occurred outside our offices on Saturday evening. While there is some exterior damage, our team is already working to assess and repair it. We appreciate the community’s concern and support.”
