THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says they have arrested a 24-year-old man who allegedly tried to sexually assault a woman on a walking trail in The Woodlands.
The sheriff’s office says Marlon Montenegro Borges is charged with attempted sexual assault. He is in the Montgomery County Jail on a $100,000 bond. He also has an ICE detainer on him.
The incident happened on July 17, when authorities say Borges pushed a woman down on a public walking trail, located at 7401 Alden Bridge, before exposing himself. A quick-thinking nearby resident was able to provide the suspect’s vehicle registration to deputies, who said it was invaluable in identifying Borges as the suspect.
Borges was later arrested by Montgomery County deputies during a traffic stop on July 22.
The sheriff’s office is asking the public for help to ensure there are no other victims.
KPRC 2 Reporter Corley Peel spoke with people walking the trails who said this case has them on high alert.
“It does scare me a little bit because I have a young daughter. When we walk we always walk together as a family, “ said Pilar Arias.
Another walker spoke anonymously, saying she always carries pepper spray because you can never be too safe.
