Wallethub survey ranks Houston as 9th best city for basketball fans

With the Houston Rockets making the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference and the Houston Cougars coming off an appearance in the NCAA national championship game, it’s clear that the City of Houston is ascending in basketball performance.

With such high-performing hoops within the city limits, this begs the question: Is Houston a good city to be a basketball fan? A recent survey from WalletHub explored this exact question.

The survey aimed to rank the best American cities to live in as a basketball fan. The survey factored in obvious categories—like the performance of the city’s teams and the reputation of their fanbases—but also considered ticket prices and stadium accessibility.

With these factors weighed, Houston ranked first among Texas cities and ninth overall. This included the 12th overall spot among NBA franchises and 25th overall for NCAA programs.

The top city was Los Angeles, followed by Boston, San Francisco, Salt Lake City and Philadelphia.

The other Texas cities with NBA teams, San Antonio and Dallas, cracked the top 20, ranking 16th and 19th respectively.
