After losing the first two games of the series, the Houston Astros had the chance to end the losing series on a high note and avoid a sweep against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Wednesday afternoon, the ‘Stros did just that, leaving Wisconsin with a dominant 9-1 victory.

Astros pitcher Framber Valdez made his eighth start of the 2025 season, finishing with seven strikeouts and allowing three hits, two walks and one earned run in 7.0 innings on the bump.
The Astros drew first blood in the top of the second inning, when a double by Zach Dezenzo brought home Jake Meyers from first.
Meyers’ run remained the lone score of the outing until the top of the fifth inning, when Dezenzo scored again on a fielder’s choice from a groundout by Jeremy Pena. During the next at bat, Brendan Rodgers scored on a passed ball to make the score 3-0 Astros.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Brewers got on the board with a 425-foot solo home run into center by Eric Haase.
In the top of the sixth, a 379-foot dinger by Pena plated Meyers and Dezenzo to give Houston a 6-1 cushion.
The next several innings were uneventful until the top of the ninth. Isaac Paredes brought home Pena with single, and a double by Yainer Diaz scored Paredes and Jose Altuve. For those keeping score at home, the Astros led 9-1 and were three outs away from a victory.
Closer Josh Hader loaded the bases with a walk, a double and a hit-by-pitch, but he recorded two strikeouts and a flyout to keep the Brewers from making things interesting and end the contest.
The win moves Houston to 18-18 overall on the season. Next up, they’ll host the Cincinnati Reds at Daikin Park on May 9. Hunter Brown is expected to start for Houston, and first pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
