HOUSTON – KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with $2,500 scholarships in 2025. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.
Jonatan Pech, a senior at Sharpstown International School, is this week’s KPRC 2-American Furniture Warehouse Senior Scholarship winner. Sharpstown International School School is part of the Houston Independent School District.
Pech was active in extracurricular programs like his school’s Junior Leaders Program as well as Speech and Debate. He also participated in The Woods Project, which gives Houston-area students opportunities to take wilderness exploration trips that help foster an appreciation for nature as well as creating meaningful social bonds and personal growth.
After school, Pech works two jobs to help support his family. Pech explained to KPRC 2 in his nomination essay how the death of his father compelled him to take on more responsibilities at home to help care for his mother and siblings.
Pech will attend Texas A&M University at their Corpus Christi campus this fall to study Architecture.
