Details as to how Scott Evan Shepple was caught are limited, but Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed the convicted felon’s recapture at Greenchase Inn, a motel room near 249 and North Freeway a little after 5:30 a.m.

Two other men, Sheriff Gonzalez added, Michael Garrett and Carl Banks, were also taken into custody and charged with Hindering Apprehension, but the latter was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Two women were also found in the motel room and our cameras saw them being questioned but were let go by police. Also inside the motel room, deputies found firearms.

Shepple was facing multiple charges including sexual assault and continuous violence against a family member, before he was last seen at the hospital located at 17750 Cali Drive around 8:45 a.m. Monday

According to the Grimes County Sheriff, Shepple tried to commit suicide by hanging himself early Sunday morning. However, Sheriff Gonzalez thanked Grimes Co. deputies as well as the various law enforcement officials who assisted in the manhunt like Texas DPS and the U.S. Marshals Service Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force.
