HOUSTON – A little boy was hit by a stray bullet overnight Tuesday in north Houston and police are looking for the shooters involved.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. when investigators said they were called to an apartment on Northborough Drive off I-45 North near Rushcreek. Lt. J.P. Horelica with HPD said they do not have any witnesses but based on the numerous (and different caliber) shell casings, they believe a gunfight occurred outside the complex.

One of the stray bullets went into Humberto Sanchez’s home. In Spanish he said, “It went through the door, like the corner and all the way to the kitchen.”

During the shooting, Lt. Horelica said stray bullets went into at least three apartments on the ground and second floor.

One of those bullets also hit a 7-year-old boy in the head, he said, who was in the living room, eating a Happy Meal from McDonald’s.

The unidentified child was conscious and breathing, “Thank goodness,” Lt. Horelica said, and taken to Texas Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
