HOUSTON – A man is in the hospital after being shot late Friday night at an apartment complex in north Houston.

Police said the shooting happened just before midnight at The Exchange Apartments on Leona Street near downtown.
According to investigators, the shooting stemmed from an argument between an unidentified man and his girlfriend. Officers arrived at the scene to find the man in his early 30s shot in the stomach.
”We have one male victim with gunshot wounds to the stomach,” an officer at the scene said. “His condition as of right now is unknown. However, when he was transported by HFD, he was conscious and talking to us. We have a unit at the hospital right now, and we’ll get updates on his condition as we hear from that unit.”
Neighbors told police they heard two gunshots and later found the victim lying in the hallway, asking for help.

The woman believed to be responsible for the shooting is now in custody as detectives with the family violence unit work to determine what led up to the incident. Authorities have not yet confirmed what charges, if any, the suspect may face.
