Houston airports resume operations after winter storm shutdown

HOUSTON – George Bush Intercontinental Airport is back in full swing after Tuesday’s winter storm caused a city-wide shutdown of air travel.

Flights began arriving as early as 10 a.m., with TSA checkpoints reopening an hour earlier to accommodate travelers.

Passengers returning to the airport were greeted with busy terminals, long lines at check-in counters, and crowds at security checkpoints.

Despite the heavy foot traffic, some travelers were pleasantly surprised by the efficiency of the process.

While the regular check-in line was long, TSA pre-check allowed passengers to breeze through security in just a few minutes.

One notable observation was the lack of chaos at ticket counters.

Although the storm left flights grounded for days, operations appear to be recovering smoothly.

Travelers were making their way to gates without significant delays, and the atmosphere was busy but controlled.

This marks a significant step in Houston’s recovery from the winter storm. The airport is working hard to clear the flight backlog and get passengers to their destinations.

For those planning to travel, airport officials advise arriving early to navigate the increased traffic.
