More than 40 years after the murder of 22-year-old Karen Lynn Douglas in her Harris County home, authorities are renewing efforts to solve the case with an increased $6,000 reward.

Her mother discovered the body when she arrived to pick Douglas up for a doctor’s appointment.

At the time of her death, Douglas was a stay-at-home mother caring for her newborn baby, who was in the home during the murder. Her husband was at work when the crime occurred. Douglas was last seen alive approximately two hours before her body was discovered.

In the months surrounding Douglas’ death, several unsolved home invasions occurred in the same area.

The other home invasions also centered around women who were home alone and attacked by a knife-wielding suspect described as a young, slender white male. Investigators have not confirmed whether these incidents are connected to Douglas’ murder.

DPS and Texas Crime Stoppers are urging anyone with information about Karen Lynn Douglas’ murder to come forward by calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477), or the Missing Persons Hotline at 1-800-346-3243.
