A woman was arrested for trying to smuggle more than a million dollars’ worth of drugs into Texas last week.
The incident took place on Nov. 19 at the Gateway International Bridge in Matamoros, Texas.

A 21-year-old woman driving a 2014 Nissan vehicle attempted to enter the United States from Mexico. After a standard vehicle inspection, her car was flagged for further examination. With the help of a drug-sniffing canine, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers discovered 43 packages hidden within the car.
The packages were removed and discovered to contain nearly 125 pounds of methamphetamine with a combined estimated street value of roughly $1,111,000.
CBP officials seized the drugs and the car, and the driver was arrested.
“This significant methamphetamine seizure underscores the commitment of our officers in upholding our border security mission and the results achieved through the effective application of CBP officer training, experience and technology,” Brownsville Port Director Tater Ortiz said.
