CHANNELVIEW, TX – Harris County Sheriff deputies are investigating after a teen died following a single car crash in Channelview.
It happened on N. Silver Green Drive and Dell Dale Street around 2:30 Sunday morning.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said on social media, the 18-year-old driver was possibly trying to race another car when he lost control and hit a curb, causing the car to flip and come to a rest in the front yard of a home.

The male was possibly attempting to race another vehicle when he lost control and struck the curb causing their vehicle to overturn and come to rest in the front yard of a residence.

The teen was taken to the hospital, where he died. He was later identified as Juan Carlos Montanez.
Deputies say the teen’s 20-year-old sister was also in the car but was not hurt.

According to HCSO, the teen’s car did not hit the other vehicle he tried to race, but the other vehicle did take off.
