What should you do if you have these products?

If you have purchased any of the cheeses listed above, it’s important to not eat them. Instead, return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund. You can identify the recalled products by checking the Best Buy dates and UPC codes printed on the labels.

Why is this a concern?

Listeria infection can be particularly dangerous for pregnant women, newborns, elderly adults, and anyone with a weakened immune system. In healthy individuals, it might cause mild symptoms like fever, headache, and digestive issues, but it can also lead to more serious conditions like miscarriages, stillbirths, or severe infections in vulnerable groups.

No illnesses have been reported related to this recall so far. However, out of caution, Savencia Cheese USA has decided to recall these products and remove them from store shelves.

What led to the recall?

The recall was triggered by routine testing that identified potential contamination in processing equipment at the company’s manufacturing facility. While finished products have not tested positive for the bacteria, the company has taken steps to prevent any risk to consumers by issuing this voluntary recall.

Next steps for consumers

Savencia Cheese USA is working with retailers to ensure that the affected products are removed from shelves as quickly as possible. If you have any questions or concerns about the recall, you can contact their Consumer Relations team at (800) 322-2743 or email them at sc.customer.service@savencia.com.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is closely coordinating with Savencia on this recall. If you’re unsure whether you have one of the affected products, checking the UPC codes and Best Buy dates is your best bet.
