LATEST: Track active COVID-19 cases in Houston-area school districts

Since the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year, KPRC 2 has tracked the active COVID-19 cases being reported by Houston-area school districts.

As of February 21, these numbers will be updated once each week. For a daily count, you can find a list of links to school district dashboards at the bottom of this article.

In the charts below, the color red represents staff data. The color orange is used for student numbers.

As the largest school district in Texas, Houston ISD started the school year with a student population of 196,171 and a total staff count of 27,195. Current active cases in students comprise 0.02% of the total student population. Current active cases in staff comprise 0.01% of total staff.

Conroe ISD tells us as of August 20, the district has approximately 67,000 students and 10,000 employees including substitutes. The active COVID-19 cases account for 0.16% of total students and 0.21% of total staff in that district.

Cy Fair ISD’s student enrollment in mid-September was 115,070. The active COVID-19 cases account for 0.03% of total students.

As of September, Katy ISD had a student population of 89,069. In January, the staff population has been reported to be 14,638. Current active cases in students comprise 0.07% of the total student population and 0.04% of the total staff population.

At the start of the school year, Spring Branch ISD had a student population of 33,350 and a staff population of 4,886. Current active cases in students comprise 0.38% of the total student population and 0.76% of the total staff population.
