Question: Why is the Harris County Public Library system still closed?

Answer: Due the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, all Harris County Public Library (HCPL) remain closed as it works to plan protocols for a phased, safe re-opening.
“We have worked hard formulating plans and protocols for a phased re-opening that will ensure the safety of patrons and staff,” HCPL states on its website. “We will begin to implement those when it is determined we may do so safely. But, because Harris County’s COVID-19 threat level remains high, we are unable to provide a timeline for re-opening at this time.”
Currently, all HCPL branches are offering no-contact, curbside holds pick-up for requested library items.
Additionally, the library system continues to offer online services while in-library services remain unavailable due to COVID-19.
