A new Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for portions of northern Harris County, Montgomery County and Liberty County as strong storms move through the region.
The latest warnings were slated to be in place until 6:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service warns the storm could produce damaging straight-line winds, large hail and heavy downpours.
Forecasters say the system may also be capable of producing a tornado, and residents in the warned area are urged to remain weather aware.
Earlier warnings were also in effect until 5:45 p.m. for Colorado, Wharton and Jackson counties, where storms have been capable of producing strong winds, hail and torrential rainfall.
Drivers are encouraged to use caution as heavy rain could reduce visibility and lead to ponding on roadways. Residents should secure loose outdoor items and be prepared to move indoors quickly if conditions worsen.
Stay tuned for further updates as the storm system continues to move across Southeast Texas.
