Art show supporting Dress for Success runs Nov 8-15 at Reeves Art + Design

HOUSTON – Houston-born artist Gary T. Murphy, now based in Dallas, has had an unconventional journey to the art world.

Before embracing his creative side, he founded seven companies—experiencing both failures and successes—worked as a pizza dough boy and nightclub floor manager, and spent a decade as a licensed private investigator.

His travels across Asia, Europe, and North America, including walking the Great Wall of China twice, have shaped a distinctive artistic vision that brings reflection, joy, and healing to viewers.

Along the way, Murphy founded GTM’s Art World, his platform to showcase innovative art and support fellow artists.

From Nov. 8–15, Murphy is curating a one-week art exhibition, “All Eyes on Her,” celebrating female creativity and empowerment.

The show features bold abstraction, expressive color, mixed media, mural-inspired works, and textile-infused portraits from Houston artists Sneha Merchant, Blakely Bering, Amy Malkan, Katharine Ligon, Janice Bond, and Leslie Cruz.

Joining the talented women are two rising young artists Zenya Merchant, 11, and Hayden Moore, 10.

Murphy will also debut a new abstract collection created exclusively for the exhibition.

Three gowns inspired by Murphy’s paintings, created in collaboration with designer Danny Nguyen, will be auctioned to benefit Dress for Success Houston, supporting women in achieving economic independence.

The exhibition is free and open to the public, with an opening reception on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Reeves Art + Design, 2415 Taft Street in Montrose. Proceeds from opening night will benefit Dress for Success.
