Ahead of this weekend’s Round Top Film Festival, co-founders share how it all began

HOUSTON – Mother-daughter duo Shanna and Skylar Schanen have deep Texas roots. They also share a passion for two things in particular: Round Top and filmmaking.

One evening, while enjoying some wine on the back porch of their country house, Shanna and Skylar dreamed up an idea that has now become a reality: the Round Top Film Festival.

Now in its second year, the festival is already gaining momentum; the co-founders say they’ve met visitors who have traveled from all over the world to enjoy the three-day festival.

This year more than 40 films will be screened, there will be panels with the opportunity to hear from stunt actors and costume designers, and there will be plenty of parties.
