Houston, Texas – The moment was almost as nonchalant as Rod Ryan pretends to be about his tireless efforts in creating an entertaining show.
Program director Elliott Wood, better known to the Buzz family as The Radio Wizard, called into the show disguised as a listener named “Scuba Steve.” Mid-call, Elliott dropped the act and broke the big news on-air, leaving Rod (for once) nearly speechless.
The reaction? Pure celebration from co-hosts, fans, and the Houston radio community.
Rod Ryan has been the voice of mornings in Houston for over two decades, waking up listeners every weekday from 6–10 a.m. on 94.5 The Buzz. Beyond his on-air energy and dedication to entertaining the masses, Rod is also widely known for his relentless commitment to giving back. From raising money for local charities to organizing community events, Rod has made it his mission to use his platform for good.
The Texas Radio Hall of Fame nomination is a well-deserved recognition of Rod’s tireless work, both behind the mic and in the community. And for those who’ve tuned in every morning, it’s simply confirmation of what they already knew, Rod Ryan is one of the greats.
Congrats, Rod! Houston’s proud of you.
