HOUSTON – Mahjong is a board game that has been around for centuries -- and recently it has seen a huge boom in popularity.
The Woodlands Mahjong Society was founded out of a love for the classic tile game -- and a passion for giving back to the local community.
And whether you’re a seasoned player or just learning the ropes, this is a great way to join the fun where friendships are built - one winning hand at a time. Their mission is to bring people together through the game of mahjong, fostering connections, friendships, and shared experiences.
WMS features tons of non-profit events where 100% off all proceeds go to the local non-profits.
Through regular meetups, they aim to make mahjong accessible and fun for all residents in The Woodlands and the surrounding area.
They’ve also have created ‘The Giving Tiles’ that give back to a local non-profit. The first set of tiles is called “The Township Series.” This series features all things that make the Woodlands such a special community.
Watch as Lauren Kelly gets a lesson on the classic game with WMS co-founders, Alex Lumpee and Shea Richter.
