From Houston to Hollywood: Powerhouse vocalist Jessica Sanchez reflects on her AGT Golden Buzzer win

HOUSTON – Nearly 20 years after she first hit the America’s Got Talent stage at just 10 years old, Jessica Sanchez headed to Hollywood once again. This time, the outcome of her AGT audition was quite different; she went home with the rare and coveted Golden Buzzer award -- meaning she advances directly to the LIVE shows.

That once-in-a-lifetime Golden Buzzer moment happened less than 48 hours ago, and Jessica says it still hasn’t sunk in.

“I think it’s just been overwhelming, all positive comments and feedback so I’m just really overwhelmed in a good way,” Sanchez told Houston Life co-host Derrick Shore during a LIVE segment on Thursday afternoon.

On top of the full-circle moment of returning to the AGT stage, Jessica’s personal life has also seen many recent changes. She and her husband, Rickie Gallardo, married in 2021. They are now expecting their first child.

“I don’t know if you could tell but my hand was like shaking towards the end because I was so nervous,” she told Shore, referring to the added pressure of performing while pregnant.

“I was in the first trimester at the time so I was nauseous and I was tired,” Sanchez added.

Watch Jessica’s full conversation with Houston Life to learn more about this life-changing moment and to learn what’s next for the Houstonian as she prepares for her first child.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for Jessica on the upcoming LIVE shows and tune in next Tuesday, 8/7 Central to watch America’s Got Talent’s Greatest Golden Buzzers. It’s a special, two hour celebration of the most powerful, emotional and career-changing moments in AGT history.
