The Inspiring Lives of America’s Sweethearts

Season 2 of Netflix’s hit docu-series, America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, is back and bringing the heat with high kicks and impressive splits. This season dives deeper into the pressures, performances, and personal stories behind the iconic cheerleaders.

I had the opportunity to speak with Kelly Finglass, the director of DCC, along with veteran cheerleaders Jada Mclean and Reece Weaver, about the buzz surrounding the new season.

Kelly Finglass, who grew up in a small East Texas town, shared her excitement about the growth of the iconic cheerleading organization.

“The elevation of the cheerleaders organization as a whole as a result of this Netflix show has been incredible. Our fan base is now literally global. We hear from fans in Australia, the UK, Ireland—you name it. That’s exciting for me to see. Not only the performances of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders but more importantly, the people that wear the uniform, their backstories, their challenges, their victories,” Finglass said.

Reece Weaver,a fan favorite from the University of Alabama, now in her second year, expressed her gratitude for the platform the show provides.

“It’s such an honor and privilege. This job does come with a lot of pressure, but that’s a privilege. I’m just grateful to be a voice and hopefully a role model for so many girls,” Weaver said.

The ladies emphasized the importance of sharing their personal stories this season.

Jada McLean, a fifth-year veteran, noted, “I think people should watch this season because it dives deeper into who the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders are as individuals. They’ll be able to relate to a lot of our stories and see a little bit of themselves in us. No matter what you come from, you can still achieve your dreams.”

As the season unfolds, viewers can expect to see not just the dazzling performances but also the heart and determination of the women behind the pompoms. Tune in to witness their inspiring journeys and the incredible bond they share as a team.
