Filmmakers with autism find their voice in this powerful film showcase in Houston

Spectrum Fusion’s filmmaker showcase is happening this Wednesday, April 23, in honor of Autism Acceptance Month

HOUSTON – April marks Autism Acceptance Month, and we’re showcasing a local organization that’s making a big impact in Houston. Spectrum Fusion focuses on providing meaningful opportunities for individuals on the autism spectrum within the fields of creative arts and film production.

Dr. Heidi Ham founded Spectrum Fusion in Australia in 2011 and brought the initiative to Houston in 2018. Her innovative model supports autistic adults who have aged out of traditional services, focusing on their strengths and passions rather than limitations. Beyond professional development, Spectrum Fusion fosters a sense of belonging, building a supportive community where individuals can thrive.

Now, the organization is bringing those voices to the big screen. The Spectrum Fusion Houston Filmmaker Showcase premieres at the historic River Oaks Theatre this Wednesday.
