BARC Animal Shelter, Houston Pets Alive and Raising Cane’s gear up for National Pet Day

HOUSTON – This Friday is National Pet Day and we’re honoring national pet day the best way we know how — by helping our furry friends find their forever homes!

Whether you’re a dog lover, a cat cuddler, or just a fan of wagging tails and happy purrs, there’s a perfect companion waiting to meet you.

As the City of Houston’s municipal Animal Shelter, BARC receives more than 15,000 animals each year. Many of these pets are adoptable and made available to the public, and thousands have found forever homes through BARC’s adoption program. Adult dog adoption fees will be lowered to $20 this Friday.

Houston Pets Alive! strives to save the lives of at-risk cats and dogs in shelters and finds them loving forever homes. As a leading advocate for animal welfare in the Houston area, we go beyond traditional rescue methods and serve as a safety net for pets in need.

Raising Cane’s, the Chicken Finger brand named after founder Todd Graves’ beloved yellow lab, is bringing a little shimmer to the community selling its new, limited-edition Golden Plush Puppy with 100% of net proceeds benefitting a ton of Houston-area shelters.

Watch as Lauren Kelly chats with Cory Stottlemyer, Deputy Shelter Director, BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions, Natalie Mendez, Volunteer Resource Manager, Houston Pets Alive! and Joe Steed and Codey Guidrey - Raising Cane’s Area Leaders all about how to get involved.
