Houston, Texas – Houston’s vibrant arts scene is set to shine once again as the Bayou City Art Festival Downtown returns, bringing over 250 artists representing 19 different art disciplines. This year’s festival will take place Saturday and Sunday at Sam Houston Park along Allen Parkway, with gates opening at 10 a.m. and closing at 6 p.m. each day.
A highlight of the festival is featured artist Gwendolyn Redfern, a Raleigh, North Carolina-based watercolorist known for her abstract cityscapes inspired by music, emotion, and the human form. “I’ve always been fascinated with architecture—the geometric forms that line city streets, buildings, bridges, and nature itself inspire my work,” said Redfern, who has exhibited in galleries and art festivals nationwide since earning her BFA in Painting from East Carolina University.
Beyond the opportunity to view and purchase world-class art, guests can enjoy live entertainment on two stages, a food truck park, a craft beer and wine garden, and the Chef’s Table, an intimate tasting experience featuring some of Houston’s top chefs. For young artists, the Active Imagination Zone will offer hands-on art and craft activities, while the Collegiate Art Collective will showcase works from five Houston-area college students.
Kristin Jensen, a member of the festival’s Board of Directors, emphasized the impact of the event. “What makes the Bayou City Art Festival stand out is not only the incredible variety of art but the opportunity for attendees to engage with artists, experience live performances, and give back to the community.”
A portion of the festival’s proceeds will benefit six local nonprofit organizations: ArtReach, Pink Bows Foundation, The Women’s Fund, The Health Museum, Indigo Grupo de Teatro, and The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
Tickets for the event must be purchased online in advance at bayoucityartfestival.com. General admission for adults is $20, while children ages 5-12 can attend for $5. A General Admission Weekend Pass is available for $30, and VIP tickets are priced at $75.
