John Moore Services is making that dream a reality for kids entrepreneurs in Houston. More than just a home services company, John Moore is dedicated to investing in the community, especially the youth to become tomorrow’s leaders.

President and CEO of John Moore Services Don Valentine developed his passion for business at a young age. When he was six or seven, he sold Christmas cards out of his red wagon, going door to door with his brother. That entrepreneurial spark grew into a successful career and now he’s paying it forward through the John Moore Junior Innovators Program.
Who can apply and how does it work?
The program is open to young entrepreneurs ages 8-16 with a creative business or product idea. Kid participants will refine their pitches through workshops and present them to a panel of mentors. Winners will receive mentorship, funding to kickstart their ideas, and expert guidance to grow their businesses. Top finalists will also be featured on KPRC 2’s “Houston Life”. The grand prize winner will receive $5,000. Second and third place winners will each receive $2,000.
Why is it important to teach entrepreneurship to kids?
Entrepreneurship teaches kids valuable problem-solving, creativity, leadership, and financial literacy skills that are beneficial in any career. This program helps kids gain the confidence and tools to chase their dreams.
What makes a strong application?
Originality, passion, and creativity. Most importantly, let your personality shine through! According to Valentine, he wants to “see the fire, the emotion, the love, the heart that goes into it.”
