The journey to get a new smile

HOUSTON – A trip to the dentist’s office is routine for most of us.

But that wasn’t the case for one local woman.

Phyllis Sikes spent years dreading those visits because of an autoimmune disease that affects her oral health.

She had her first oral surgery at just two years old. She then went on to get partial dentures in her 20s and several more reconstructive surgeries along the way.

Sikes was researching a more permanent solution when she came across Dr. Michel Azer and the team at Texas Dental Implant Center.

After a consultation, she decided to get a full-mouth restoration with the OneArch TM procedure.

Sikes says the “try-in” phase is what really set Dr. Azer’s team apart from others.

After designing her new teeth, she was able to try them out before committing to her final set.

She credits Dr. Azer for getting her smile back.

For the first time in her life, Sikes says she’s looking forward to having routine dentist appointments, with just a cleaning, every six months.

If you’ve ever been told by a dentist there’s nothing they can do to fix your smile, advances in technology can help with even the most difficult cases.
